Addressing the False Equivalency of Trump and Puerto Rico

I could easily just stay quiet and write nothing - and it would cost me nothing. In fact - it would likely be better to say nothing.But, I'm over the insanity. I'm over faux outrage. I'm over slacktivism. I'm over people hating the very thing they claim to love. I'm over those stating the First Amendment is under attack and then attacking it when it's convenient. I can't be the only person tired of watching good people manipulated into outrage every day.I'm going to weigh in, speaking solely for myself. Two factions are fighting over everything right now, and the independents who were laughing are now horrified at what has happened around us. Yesterday Joe Biden called supporters of Donald Trump, "Garbage". Joe Biden is not running for President.On Saturday, Tony Hinchcliffe called Puerto Rico a floating trash pile. Tony Hinchcliffe is not running for President.The headlines being run against the Harris campaign and Trump campaign are baseless. These were not their words and should not be treated as such. Outside of CBS, the media stayed silent that Trump's campaign condemned the joke before the event ever ended. The Harris campaign also does not believe that the over 70 million voters are garbage either.I believe in free speech. Tony and Biden have a right to say what they wish. I did not find either comment something I agree with, but I'm not posting to have a false equivalency statement either.Perhaps you are unaware, but George Lopez told a joke recently at a Harris/Walz event that was overlooked by insinuating Mexicans were thieves. He got a free pass because of his own heritage. A double standard that some ignore.Can we get back to talking about issues? It seems like we've outlawed that too by canceling anyone with a difficult conversation that challenges our beliefs.Until I hear Donald Trump state that Puerto Rico is a floating pile of trash, and Kamala Harris say that people who vote for Trump are garbage, I will hold onto perspective and refuse to be manipulated. Can you all say the same?

Education: Is Privilege a Choice?

I was told that sending my kids to a private Catholic school was a privilege. I myself was sent for parochial education as a child. I've never seen my education as one of privilege for my parents, not for myself making that choice now. Certainly for me as a child I had the great privilege of my parents choice to sacrifice, and for my own children to experience the same. The language and use of the word "privilege" misrepresents what parochial education is and should be, and society would be wise to look closer at their success. Public schools are falling behind on standards when our students are tested. What can we learn when we approach public schooling from the same standards set forth by private and parochial?

FROM THE ARCHIVES: Dr. Paul Thomas Fights To Protect Our Children

Last week, Dr. Paul Thomas retired from pediatric medicine after a 35-year career. The final years of his medical practice had been turbulent, with a constant barrage from the medical board. The accusations and concerns from the board began with his book, “The Vaccine Friendly Plan.” Released in 2016, the book placed a target on him as his research was attacked. This led to the suspension of his medical license in December of 2020.
A simple search of him by name on the internet will give the impression that Dr. Paul is an “anti-vaxxer.” A term coined to discredit those in the medical community as non-science practitioners. However, looking closer at his profile, you can discover he led one of the largest research studies by examining his own patients throughout the years. This research led him to scientifically show that vaccines were having a negative impact on the health of his patients. He developed the Dr. Paul Approved Vaccine plan in 2008. This plan was not anti-vaccine, it was a revision of the CDC plan to avoid taxing on the immune system, and vaccines that likely would never be needed, such as Hep B., something he claimed could be eliminated by understanding the health of the mother. As his patients began experiencing superior health, and a significantly lower rate of autism (0 in 1336) than the national average of 1 in 45.

What does it mean to be Human? Is it to err? You know something has been feeling off, but you have been struggling to put a finger on it. Is it the divisive behavior? Not likely, division is as old as humanity. Is it a political operation? Again, not likely, political operations have failed for centuries and these will fail too.The most likely accomplice is technological advancements that have led us to a singularity. Artificial intelligence is not only here, but it is in much more of your daily routine than you ever imagined. We are living, but transformed. I present some interesting questions to ponder as we move forward together.
