Life Lessons with a Professional Soccer Coach, Guillermo Hamdan Zaragoza
An estimated 4 billion people watch soccer around the world. The sport transcends national borders, cultures, and conflicts. In the United States, soccer has grown slowly, with many other professional sports vying for the public's attention. The game is growing as the World Cup will come to America in the summer of 2026. This past year has seen over 14 million play the game with an 8% growth over the previous year. I sat down with Guillermo Hamdan Zaragoza, the Philadelphia Union's U16 Head Coach (MLS), to discuss the sport and how it has taught him about humanity.
Our conversation covers world culture and perspective as Guillermo discusses his world travel from San Diego to Saudi Arabia, and 71 countries in between all from his love of the game of soccer. Whether you are looking to learn more about the world or the game of soccer for your own life, the conversation is interesting and helpful.
